Moab
It had been many years since I was last camping. Most of a lifetime ago to be honest. My good friend Dylan invited me to camp in the deserts around Moab, also home to Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park. It was already an adventurous summer for me having been to Ireland the month before, so I said yes, let's camp. In the desert. In July. Suffice it to say, it was very hot with daily temperatures around 100 degrees.
Thanks to the recommendation of a coworker, we found a great camping spot that provided us with good shelter from the sun during the peak heat of the day. It seemed to be a sought out spot as other campers over the next few days eyed our spot with envy.
Our adventures took us through both of the nearby national parks. The sun didn't show us any mercy. Water, Gatorade, sunscreen, and long sleeves proved to be very good friends for us. It was busy in the parks, but not too busy outside of town in the desert (again, middle of summer in Utah).
